Cheng Wen Hsing/Chen Hung Lin took their first Super Series title
In the September BWF world ranking, Lee Chong Wei in the men’s singles, Wang Yi Han in the women’s singles, Cai Yun /Fu Hai Feng in the men’s doubles, Wang Xiao Li/ Yu Yang in the women’s doubles and Zhang Nan/Zhao Yun Lei in the mixed doubles retained their top ranking.
In the Taipei Open in early September the South Korean team took the women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles titles.Sung Ji Hyun took her first ever international tournament title, climbing up the world rankings to 13th and all eyes are sure to be on her in the future. South Korean men’s pair Lee Yong Dae/Jung Jae Sung lost to their compatriots Ko Sung Hyun／Yoo Yeon Seong at the Taipei Open, only taking second place, but bounced back to take the title at the China Masters, their world ranking moving up one spot from third to second.
Chinese Taipei’s players have performed very well over the last few months. Ranked 6th in the world, Chen Hung Lin/Cheng Wen Hsing have performed steadily since they began playing together last year but had never won a title. However, their win at the Japan Super Series took them into the ranks of the world’s top mixed doubles pairs. Cheng Wen Hsing/ Chien Yu Chin took silver at the same event, keeping them in the top five in the women’s doubles world rankings.
As for other Victor stars, South Korea’s Bae Youn Joo in the women’s singles, Ko Sung Hyun／Yoo Yeon Seong in the men’s doubles, Ha Jung Eun/Kim Min Jung in the women’s doubles and Vietnam’s Nguyen Tien Minh all stay in the Top 10 in the world rankings.
