South Korea take three silver medals

In the mixed doubles, South Korea’s Ha Jung Eun / Lee Yong Dae lost 19:21,16:21 to Denmark’s Kamilla Rytter Juhl / Thomas Laybourn.  

In the women’s doubles final, South Korea’s Jung Kyung Eun / Kim Ha Na were up against China’s Tang Jin Hua / Xia Huan. With the first game at deuce the South Korean’s made a few errors and went down 21:23. In the hard fought second game the two pairs were evenly matched at 13 all before the South Korean’s fell back, losing 13:21, taking the runners-up spot.

In the men’s doubles final, Jung Jae Sung, back from injury, and Lee Yong Dae were up against China’s Hong Wei / Shen Ye. The Chinese were lucky a few times when the shuttlecock hit the net but still went over and took the match 19:21,21:1,19;21

In the men’s singles, China’s Lin Dan had a relatively easy match against Indonesia’s Simon Santoso and he took his fifth German Open title in straight games. In the women’s singles final China’s Li Xue Rui beat Germany’s Juliane Schenk to take the title. When the curtain came down on the German Open 2012 the South Koreans had taken a respectable haul of three silver medals. The British Open is soon to take place (March 6-11).
